Guest Post

Hello Simple Aussie Girls! I'm Melissa Shanhun, from DigitalScrapbookingHQ - Australia's premier digital scrapbooking education site, and I'm here to share a little about my simple scrapbooking, along with an awesome GIVEAWAY.

My Story

I fell in love with digital scrapbooking back in 2007 and after a couple of years I was feeling overwhelmed with all the moments, events and memories I wanted to scrapbook. I had the technical know how and you can bet I'd collected lots of digital scrapbooking kits, and even†a stash of templates. But I hadn't found my groove.†Along came December Daily†... and I wanted to participate, but had to find a way to make my layouts unique, but cohesive enough for the final album to look good. So I made myself a base page template:

  Template

And each day I tweaked this design to create the space for photos and journalling I needed. I was so excited! I gathered a couple of kits and got scrapping. Here's how it all turned out.
Last year, I turned these pages in to a full album with 31 templates and a Shutterfly ready cover. I'm thrilled to be giving away one copy to a Simple Aussie Girls reader. This is not your ordinary template pack... it's got everything you need to create your own album:
  • Enough pages to fill a book
  • Lots of pages that use multiple photos
  • Photo focus pages for those stunning photos you want to showcase
  • A place to share your thoughts and stories on each page
  • Tasteful title placement options
  • Ideas on placing embellishments for that finishing touch
  • A quick way to create a cover to print perfectly with Shutterfly
  • All the help you need to get started

The winner will receive:

  • 31 pre-shadowed fully layered templates
  • An inspiration gallery including over 80 completed pages (more being added!)
  • A introductory video tutorial for new digital scrapbookers
  • A video tutorial explaining some advanced methods of making the templates work for you!
Here's a little peek at how else I've used these pages lately...

 ††

The Simple Aussie Girls team have had a play with the templates too.

  3. Wow what a great giveaway. Thanks for the chance to win. Shadows baffle me; making them look realistic, where and how to use them, etc. So my question would be how to get realistic shadows?

  10. Thanks for the chance to win, Melissa! I have a question about the templates: can you tweak them or are they available to use as is? I'm not too familiar with how they work but they sound great, and I like the examples you show!

  12. This is a great giveaway! I would like to know how to organize all of my pse "how-to's" in one place. I often want to do a particular thing with a page and then have to try to remember where I saw how to do a particular technique, such as journaling techniques for example. I end up wasting a lot of time searching for my tips! Thanks for the chance to win! I love templates!

  13. Awesome giveaway! And your True Scrap class sounds great, too. I'm still a newbie to digi scrapping, so my process is slow as I'm learning how to use photoshop and finding what works for me. I'd like to hear how you organize your photos/images and digi supplies such as kits/templates, and actions. I'm finding that I'm spending more time searching for an item and getting sidetracked than scrapping!
