SOS No.3 - Alexa

Today I have another SOS layout to share with you all. The internet can be such a wonderful place, a blogging friend of mine suggested I would like to visit Alexa's blog - she was right! Alexa dabbles in the world of digital scrapbooking for the majority of her pages, she has even made her own papers and printed them onto fabric! Alexa's blog is an absolute pleasure to read, it is a lovely soothing place to visit filled with beautiful photos, clean, linear layouts and a focus on words and journaling. I think this page today is a stunning example of how to combine beautiful journaling along with creative and effective photo editing.

Alexa's next double page spread has a far more literary feel, I don't often combine other sources of literature or poetry within my pages and I think this example shows how well it can be done. I have to say, I am quite envious of the lush green environment in these pictures - the greens in Australia are muted and dull by comparison!

Alexa's blog is filled with wonderful examples of clean and linear digital scrapping, beautiful thought provoking journaling and digital paper making - it is always an inspiring place to visit!

SOS No.2 - Lee

Hi everyone, welcome back to SAG, we had a great discussion yesterday regarding page sizes and how to print in Australia and New Zealand, if you have any further questions please don't hesitate to ask.
Today I wanted to share a couple of pages made by my friend Lee. I met Lee nearly two years ago while we were both taking an online class, Lee's blog has since become a daily read for me, I love her down to earth writing style and her wonderful knack for finding fantastic and thought provoking links to lead me all over the place on the internet.

First up is a 12x12 page with oodles of lovely white space and the clever placement of embellishments, that action photo is just fantastic!

Next, is a digital page which is a great example of repetition of colour in the design and absolutely beautiful journaling, which is, after all, the key to this whole memory keeping gig don't you think?

SOS No.1 - Renee

For the next four days we will bring you some fab layouts from some guest scrappers. We call them SOS's which originally started as 'Simple Overseas Scrappers' but now stands stands for 'Simple Other Scrappers', Aussie or otherwise! SOS basically means simple scrappers other than us!

First up today we have a page by Renee. Renee is a wife to one and a mum to two (girl aged 5 and boy age nearly 2), lives in Sydney and has been scrapping for about 6 years. Her style is eclectic, perhaps? Interesting, and earthy, and busy, but in a simple way. Renee is not into perfection, rather she embraces the creative 'imperfect' side of this craft. Renee has this fabulous scrawl handwriting, and tends to use that in favour of computer printing. She always has interesting and quirky photography happening.

This first layout is from 2008, and the journaling is about a chance that Renee and her husband had to go out together, childless, to a nice restaurant thanks to the generosity of some friends from church.  It's quite different to the rest of our styles here, which is why I wanted to show you. I love the energy and fun all those photos and strips give.  And the journaling captures a thought, a quick moment in time back then. Nice.  The layout inspiration here came from an Ali Edwards layout.

The second layout that Renee has let me use is a lift from an IKEA catelogue. It totally looks like a magazine article, huh? It is very visually interesting and tells quite a story with all those photos and the journaling.  I love the big postcode (zip code) It is about how three sets of friends were all moving away to a small coastal town, and Renee's feeling about it.

Thanks to this fab hobby, we have made scrapping friends from all over the world. We invited a lovely non-Aussie scrapper to share this layout about her Dad on our blog. We'll call her a SOS - A Simple Overseas Scrapper! Her name is Melanie, she's from Quebec, Canada, and I really love this layout. Thank you, Mel. (Journaling below)
